We want to make the world a better place. I noticed a long time ago a level of ignorance, disconnection and excess all around me. Let’s do what we can to change this! Together, we can make this world a more wholesome place for the coming generations.
Here at Mindful Meals our values are:
Community
We are stronger together. With uncertain times ahead, connecting with community and supporting each other is more important than ever. Buying from local farmers and small businesses creates prosperity within our community. We are partnering with local farms all over Texas to do just that.
We also are planning Community Dinners to bring neighbors together, celebrating connections all around. Sign up for our mailing list to learn more!
Finally, we plan to support the community with trash pickup days and monthly donations to non-profits.
Awareness
I often look at the ingredients on packaged “foods,” and wonder, why? Why are there so many ingredients here? And what are those things? Are they really necessary? How do those ingredients affect my body?
Asking these questions is a new level of awareness.
Then you start to see the grocery store with new eyes. Why do we use so many plastic bags? Why does everything need so much plastic packaging? Where does this food come from? How is it grown and in what conditions?
When you go to the Farmer’s Market, you get to meet the people who planted and harvested your family’s next meal.
Then this awareness starts to expand into your diet and even the rest of your life. Eating meat for every meal is extremely taxing on our food system. Both the planet and the animals suffer. Eating a more plant-based diet can help restore balance to that system, and to your body. For vegans and non-vegans alike, a diet without processed foods, and a greater variety of whole grains, legumes and vegetables promotes wellness.
We vote with our dollar every day. When more and more people stop purchasing processed foods, we can help restore the balance to our food systems, and our bodies.
Compassion
Healing our relationship with food and ourselves is a lifelong journey. Creating a mindset of acceptance and peace is a big part of a healthy lifestyle. Our western culture has it’s values a little backwards.
We want to encourage a loving mindset, honoring ourselves for the gentle nutrition that we are adding to our diets and deprogramming from the shame of diet culture.
We practice and encourage Mindful Eating, respect to the Earth and ourselves. Taking small steps in the right directions is something to be celebrated. We don’t expect anyone to change overnight. We are non-judgmental, encouraging better over perfect, always with compassion.
